Speech Recognition

Overview

On any Mac with Apple Speech software installed, you can play using only your voice. For more information about Speech Recognition, visit Apple’s website.

To use speech recognition, simply open the preferences dialog, select the “Sound & Speech” tab, and click on the “Use Speech Recognition” checkbox. If it is able to turn on, the button will have a check mark in it. Now all you need to do is make sure your microphone is connected and turned on. Consult your Mac’s manual for information on how to attach a microphone, or use the built in microphone.

Now you’re all set! Simply speak clearly and normally any of the following phrases and the game will hear, understand and do as you command. Pretty cool, huh?

• Cards when playing and passing (i.e., Three of Spades)
• Bidding (One Club, Two No-Trump, etc.)
• Pass
• New Solo Game
• New Network Game
• New Game (context sensitive for solo and network)
• Close Window
• Solo Stats
• Show, Hide Score Pad
• Show, Hide Desktop
• Show Last Trick
• Open Help
• Open Preferences
• Open Rules
• Open Puppets
• Click (simulates a mouse click; helpful for exiting some stages of the game)
